About Cape Ann Seafood Exchange (CASE)
Gloucester’s Cape Ann Seafood Exchange was founded in 2002 as a daily online auction to facilitate selling and buying advantages for local fisherman and approved buyers from around the world. Approximately 30 companies are approved to purchase on the exchange, and enrollment is open to new buyers. The main species traded are cod, haddock, pollock, redfish, hake, dabs, grey sole, and blackbacks. Please call or email for more information about our fish auction.
CASE also supplies domestic and international wholesale distributors, restaurant chains and supermarkets to fill the growing, demand for specialty (underutilized) species such as dogfish, monkfish, skate, mackerel, pollock and whiting.
In addition to managing CASE, owner Kristian Kristiansen oversees Cape Ann Fuel & Ice, Co., also located on Gloucester’s working waterfront. Cape Ann Fuel & Ice provides ice, fuel, dockage, and other services to local fishing vessels at competitive prices.
Cape Ann Seafood Exchange Supports Sustainable Fishing
CASE supports the sustainability of local fisheries and the MSC environmental standard. The standard was developed using the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries and other international conservation instruments for wild-capture fisheries. The company was directly involved in the certification process of Atlantic spiny dogfish.
