Preserving the Atlantic Spiny Dogfish
Spiny Dogfish (Squalus acanthias) is popular in a variety of recipes in the United States, Asia and Europe. It is often served as a filet, because of its texture and firmness similar to haddock. In England, it is widely used as the fish in traditional “fish and chips.” Because spiny dogfish are slow to reproduce, they are vulnerable to overfishing. Cape Ann Seafood Exchange was an active proponent of dogfish MSC certification, a program for sustainable and well-managed fisheries.
CASE is a primary processor of Atlantic spiny dogfish, buying catches from day boats along the Eastern seaboard. Product is graded, processed and packed in our HACCP approved waterfront facility, ensuring the highest levels of quality and freshness.
